The Project

Makerspace ConceptCalgary MakerSpace is a consortium of organisations and individuals brought together with the goal of improving our local economy and culture by building a world-class large Makerspace in the heart of our great town.

We will provide artists, entrepreneurs, makers and small & large businesses with secure access to a state of the art prototyping and fabrication facility. In addition to providing much needed access to tools and equipment,  this will also bring individuals and groups together across disciplines, creating new opportunities for collaboration and invention.

Access to the collaborative facility will be on a fee for membership basis, with additional hourly fees assigned for access to specialized equipment and skilled technicians. Private work space, studios and storage will be also available on a rental basis.

The organisation is a not-for-profit Alberta Corporation. Net income will be reinvested in new equipment and facilities, as well as the funding and commissioning of projects and scholarships, creating a robust self sufficient model with income reaching out to the greater community.
