Mice in shining armour. A robotic stone golem. Chain mail for cats.

What do these things have in common?

They’re all being crafted by makers in Calgary.

Absolut Canada and VICE joined forces to share the stories of the artists, creators, makers who are transforming the world around them at the intersection of art and technology in Calgary. Meet Shannon Chappell, Jason Bedard and Jeff Deboer as they share their insights about the maker movement and their creations.

“The maker movement simply provides permission to play; permission to make.” – Jason Bedard

The maker movement is the contemporary, technology-driven extension of DIY culture, which combines things like electronics, robotics and 3D printing with more traditional activities such as metalworking, woodworking and arts and crafts. And the results are spectacular. Absolut Vodka and VICE crossed the country to meet members of the Canadian maker community. Find out why we are partnering with members of the maker movement.
